Chuck Liff

Funny, Outgoing, Unique, Smart, Loving, Genuine, Caring, Strong, Brave, FIGHTER.

These are just the very FEW words to describe Chuck.
Chuck was diagnosed with stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. I was working at the Hunstman Cancer Hospital and He was seeing the doctors for the first time.  He became a regular with chemo being scheduled every 2 weeks.  He always came in with a smile on his face and a long list of jokes to keep us smiling.  Nothing got to him or let him down. They told him he had a 2% chance to live and he was determined to be that 2%. He was truly a fighter. He lived life to the fullest and never took anything for granted.

A typical day at chemo.

I was put in the hospital shortly after my first round of chemo. That morning my father in law passed away from cancer. Couple hours later Chuck shows up to my room with his two WONDERFUL kids to lighten up our day. From that day forward Chuck has been my " Chemo Sabe". ( our nick name for each other) We would always be at each others chemo's causing trouble with the infusion nurses.  Chuck always was concerned on how I was doing even though he was the one with the terminal cancer.  His selflessness blew me away. Many times we would go out, get hot chocolate and try to solve the worlds problems. I would often ask him how he was handling being terminal. His reply "This life is a gift, just because I have Pancreatic Cancer doesn't mean I stop living.  Its made life so much richer for me and I'm thankful for that. Each moment is just that much more special."  Chuck truly changed everyone's life the moment you met him.

Dear Chuck,
You were truly my angel here on this earth. I will cherish all the lesson's you have taught me. You were a fighter to the end and now you have finally beaten cancer. You just had to do it a different way. Now you are an angle in heaven learning how to concur that world. You will always live on in my heart.
Keep on keeping on Chuck
Much love your Chemo Sabe.

  1. Beautiful. In my vision I see the Angel of Mercy descend on Chuck in his final moments of life here on earth. He climbed aboard that angel and instead of slowing ascending to the heavens he prodded the angel to "go faster, go higher"...wind blowing over his face, arms outstretched, smiling his beautiful smile. And with that twinkle in his eye...he exclaimed "THIS IS THE BEST DAMN RIDE...EVER"! We love you Chuck. I expect to see you at the gates of heaven...that twinkle in your eye, that gregarious personality, that smile! RIP Friend, you will be missed here on earth!
